Jeffrey Zeldman is one of the web's best CSS masters. On his site he not only shows the possibility of CSS but also, contains real work around solutions to IE's many bugs.

There is a site that utilizes the font size changing aspect to CSS as well has code for columns that has been cross browser tested.
The Noodle Incident has several variations to coding columns and contains the code for them as well. There is a more varied selection here.
No list would be complete without the W3C on it.
