04.07.2005 - Fluid Design

Fluid Design is a method which allows Websites to automatically re-adjust to the size of your screen and site content. This session will cover layout techniques for designing sites using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) with an emphasis on fluid design. Topics will include "Sliding Doors" and flexible units of measure. Participants should have a strong foundation in HTML and basic CSS knowledge before attending this session.

11.10.2004 - PHP and mySQL

This session is intended to expand upon the "Introduction to PHP" session presented previously by the CDWS Techranger Team. Upon completion, participants will understand how to manipulate information submitted via a form, connect to a database, and then manage the records and tables stored within. Please note that a basic understanding of PHP and HTML is required to complete this session.

10.26.2004 - CSS Layout: Replacing the Table

Previously, Techrangers provided sessions on how to properly implement Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Now the Techranger team will provide instruction on how to replace the much-used table design for the added functionality of a div design. Basic CSS knowledge is a must for this particular session. This includes working knowledge of how to apply style and having the ability in using certain properties to aid with changing fonts and other basic uses of CSS.

10.05.2004 - XHTML Conversion

Coding XHTML with accessibility issues in mind, attendees will learn how to use valid XHTML markup to update their web sites in conformance with web standards. They will learn specific techniques that allow their pages to be viewed by users with disabilities. Due to the technical nature of this session, attendees must have a good foundation in basic HTML.

This session provides faculty, staff and student webmasters with an introduction to server side scripting using PHP. Upon completion, participants understand embedding PHP in HTML, processing form data, and the utilization of online resources to further their knowledge and understanding of PHP.

11.18.2003 - CSS Syntax & Layout Techniques

Back by popular demand, this session combines our two previous CSS Tech Time events into one. With an overview of CSS syntax and advanced layout techniques, attendees will learn how to make their web pages stand out from the everyday lull of basic webpage design.

10.28.2003 - JavaScript

This session covers how to use JavaScript to enhance a site, and apply it to creating simpler, easy-to-use forms for the end user, including form event handling and form fields validation.

09.18.2003 - Understanding CDWS Style Sheets

This session provides faculty with an understanding of the style sheets used by CDWS for courses. Faculty learn how to link to the CDWS style sheets, which page attributes are automatically changed by the style sheet and how to apply the custom styles available in the styles sheets.

Note: When using Dreamweaver to convert to XHTML, be sure that the DOCTYPE appears before any HTML comments.
