The Techrangers assist in creating, maintaining and supporting students taking online courses. If you are having trouble with your online course, your question may be answered by one of the following links. Otherwise please use the form below to “Ask the Techrangers.” Expect a reply within two business days. Or you may reach the Techrangers at (407) 823-3808 Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.

Common Support Issues
Optimum Computer Setup
To test if the computer you are using is an optimum environment for Webcourses@UCF, follow these steps:
- Go to http://webcourses.ucf.edu.
- Click “Check Your Browser” in the bottom left.
- It may take a short while but a test will run and the results will pop up in a new window.
- If you receive a red X next an item, follow the instructions provided to correct the possible issue.
- Recheck the browser and follow the instructions until all results are green checks.
It is also suggested to use a computer connected to the internet with a land line versus one using a wireless card when taking a timed assessment. This should ensure connectivity.
Missing Classes
If you cannot see your Webcourses@UCF courses listed on the “Online Course Tools” tab of the myUCF portal and it is past the start date for the course, you will need to first verify that you are enrolled in the course. You may verify this by checking the “Student Self Service” portion of the myUCF portal under “Enrollment”. Or you may confirm your enrollment by checking your eCommunity class list.
- If you are not shown as being enrolled then please contact the registrar at 407-823-3100 or registrar.ucf.edu.
- If you are shown as enrolled yet do not see your courses in the Webcourses@UCF Pagelet then contact your teacher to confirm the availability of the course’s content. Often instructor’s choose to either release a class late or deny access until after the add/drop period. It is always best to clarify with the teacher whether or not you should have access. Please contact us if the teacher confirms you should have access.
Upgrading Java - Quiz/Chat/General Course Issues Fix
- Go to http://webcourses.ucf.edu.
- Click “Check Your Browser” in the bottom left.
- It may take a short while but a test will run and the results will pop up in a new window. If you receive a red X next to “Javascript Check”, then you will need to install a newer version of Java. Visit http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp.
- Download by selecting the version that matches your Operating System.
- Continue through the prompts to install the java plug-in.
Online Course Access
Webcourses@UCF, can be accessed by following these steps:
- Go to the MyUCF Portal (http://my.ucf.edu).
- Type in your PID and PID password and click “Sign On”. If you cannot remember your PID or PID password, please click on the help links below the login box.
- Click on the “Online Course Tools” tab at the top.
- Scroll down until you see a box titled “Webcourses@UCF.
- Click on the class name you need to access to sign onto the online portion of the class.
