In June 2004, UCF hosted a professional development event sponsored by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), Educause, and Microsoft Corporation. Twelve universities were selected to send teams that included their presidents, provosts, and chief information officers.
Students employed by Course Development & Web Services (CDWS) presented technology parlors during a reception at this professional development event. The students were then invited to present at Educause's annual meeting for the National Learning Infrastructure Initiative.

Valhalla
Valhalla, which is implemented with PHP and a MySQL database, is the system that powers the Techranger website. It was written to replace its aging ColdFusion predecessor, Techranger Site 3.0. The current release provides the Techranger team with the ability to;
- manage applicant data
- create or delete galleries
- post or remove images from galleries
- publish features
- edit, create, or delete user biographies
- edit, create, or delete XHTML templates
- edit, create, or delete cascading style sheets
Future versions of Valhalla will feature a fully functional embedded blog. This will allow users to post to both a personal blog as well as a collaborative team blog. Additionally, Valhalla users will soon have the ability to manage publicly available data about projects, including a description, screenshots, and related files.
